Kingman Turquoise - Arizona Classic

The turquoise mine in Mohave County, Arizona is one of the oldest continuously worked turquoise mines in the Americas, with archaeological evidence of pre‑contact mining over 1,000 years ago. It remains in production today and supplies a workhorse stone for Southwest jewellery. The classic stone displays medium to bright sky‑blue colour with a black or dark brown matrix in irregular webs. Shades range from pale blue to deep teal, and higher grades approach the purity of the most sought‑after blue stones. Grades include a high‑blue variety with minimal matrix, a spiderweb type with fine even webbing, and other sub‑varieties distinguished by matrix patterns. Stabilised stones are treated with clear epoxy, while natural stones command a premium.
