Native American watches and watch bands handmade by Navajo artists in sterling silver, some set with turquoise, coral or black onyx and a few with 12kt gold filled accents. The range covers decorative watch bands and cuff-style watch bracelets. Every piece here is signed by the artist and includes an original certificate of authenticity.
Navajo Watch Bands and Watch Cuffs
Navajo silversmiths are known for heavy sterling silver, hand stamping and bold stone settings, and those traditions carry over to the watch. Some pieces in this collection are slim bands with designs such as a wave or storyteller motif, while others are wide cuffs that wrap the wrist with silver and stone around the watch face. A few combine sterling silver with 12kt gold filled overlays for a two-tone look. Read more about the history and styles in our Navajo jewelry guide.
Stones and Metals
Most pieces are sterling silver. Stones, where used, include turquoise, coral and black onyx, and some bands combine turquoise and coral in the same design. On some bands the mechanism that attaches to the watch is not sterling silver or handmade, and the product page says when that applies. See our coral guide to learn how this stone is used in Native American jewelry.
About the Watch Faces
On several pieces the watch face is included for display only and may not work. The product page states this when it applies, so read the listing if you plan to wear the piece as a working watch.
Sizing and Fit
Inside circumference, opening and maximum width are listed on the product page where they apply. Compare them with a bracelet or watch you already wear. Some cuffs can be resized by the artist for an extra fee, noted on the listing when it applies. Many listings show a representative photo, so the piece you receive may vary slightly in stone color and pattern.
How to Check Authenticity
Authentic Native American work is made by an enrolled member of a recognized tribe, and selling imitations as Indian-made is illegal under the Indian Arts and Crafts Act. Look for an artist hallmark, a sterling stamp where the metal is silver, and paperwork naming the maker. Our hallmarks guide explains what the stamps mean.
Caring for Silver and Stones
Take the piece off before swimming, showering or washing your hands, and keep lotion and perfume away from the stones. Wipe the silver with a soft jewelry cloth and store it in a pouch so it does not scratch against other pieces.
